In the early nineties non-profit organizations, suppliers and local proprietors realized they had a mutual best interest: ethical business practices in bingo for the benefit of everyone, especially local charities. By 1996, the Virginia General Assembly concurred, establishing the Virginia Charitable Gaming Commission to oversee all aspects of charitable gaming.
The old association changed its name to the Virginia Bingo Group and continued to advocate charitable gaming as means for local, non-profit organizations to raise money for their causes.

In 2003 the Virginia Charitable Gaming Commission became the Virginia Department of Charitable Gaming. Under the watchful eye of the DCG, charitable gaming has flourished as a safe and sensible means for players to enjoy bingo and other activities while proceeds are reinvested in their local communities.

Today more than ever, the Virginia Bingo Group remains committed to ethical charitable gaming for the sake of all parties, especially Non Profit Organizations and their causes.
