In 2008, as the budget presents the General Assembly and Governor Kaine with ever increasing challenges, it should be comforting to the licensed non-profit organizations that they have the privilege to use charitable gaming in order to raise funds for their important causes.
Even in an economy that at times takes two steps forward and one step back, those charities with their Charitable Gaming permits in hand have a source of income they can always rely upon.
Volunteers are the name of the game! No charitable cause can be successful without them. Even the smallest non-profit organizations in Virginia usually have enough hard-working volunteers to make use of charitable gaming in order to raise the funds required for their important causes and community activities.
After the former Charitable Gaming Commission was retooled into a Department of Charitable Gaming, the Charitable Gaming Board began creating the regulations that the Department now enforces. Today, our Virginia General Assembly requires the board continually address various issues that affect charitable gaming. As a result, board members always have a very large agenda at hand. In taking it on, they are fortunate to have at their disposal members of the staff of the Department of Charitable Gaming, the true professionals who, having many years of industry experience, are willing to lend assistance as needed. With all the different perspectives brought to the legislative table by volunteers, players, the public, and an oversight board comprised of gaming product suppliers, legislators, regulators, and proprietors, it is fair to say that Charitable Gaming in Virginia has a very good outlook indeed.
The Virginia Bingo Group encourages your non-profit organization or community cause to get involved! Use charitable gaming to raise funds for your cause. Start by contacting the Virginia Department of Charitable Gaming for information on how to become licensed.
